Sabrina's Law

I know some people are interested in my allergy and how to deal with it. I just thought I should share some information with you.

http://www.ontla.on.ca/library/bills/381/3381.htm

That is a link to Sabrina's Law, a law put in place with a 13 year old little girl died from a severe food allergy. It took them two years after the incident to finally put the law in place but it seems not all schools have been told about it.

Sheridan included. So, I have a newspaper clipping and backed with the above information I am going to talk to my programs Co-ordinator and ask to speak wihte Principle, Dean or whatever they call the guy in charge. If I can't do that, then I will ask that Andrew (my Co-ordinator) please ask all the Faculty in the art department to meet for a short 1/2 hour session where I will explain to them how to use and epi-pen, the proper procedure to follow and, most importantly, get them thinking of ways to prevent it.

I'm tired of relying on others to keep me safe. I will demand that they acknowledge this law. I know I can't be the only one with these allergies in this school and I do not anyone else to have to suffer the horror that one goes through when they can no longer breathe.

I don't remember why now, but I do remember a time when I couldn't breathe. It was the worst feeling ever. I didn't relax for days. I would not wish that on the world and I don't know how you live with the very real possibility of it happening every day. Hope someone listens to you, sweetness.

It's like drowning and knowing that there is no surface to swim towards. I hate it, it terrifies me and if I can save someone from ever having to go through that I will do everything I can.

Yes, you do exactly this. And if they brush you off, send it as an anonymous note to the local paper. I don't want to get your school in trouble, but they should be more concerned about keeping their students alive.

I know. I was so angry when they didn't know about this law, I'm still shaking and I honestly didn't expect it to get to me like this. If worse comes to worse and the dean doesn't listen, then I will print the article there, make a copy of the one from the paper and write up one about myself and what I've gone through and included contact info for me and put it in every single teacher's mailbox!

I want to feel safe again.
