Just thought I'd share the dragon I've been working on with you. He's inked and the base colours have been laid out, but that's about it...oh and the eyes are shaded!

I still have to sketch in the rest of the background though >_<

And I know his legs are all screwed up >_>

I wish I could find something like that in my trees.

Ooooh, so cool!
He looks like a very approachable dragon, I think. I'd be all tempted to try to give him shiny things. ^^

Oh, I LIKE! :) I like the way his head's poking out and he's giving a "yeah, I'm in a tree, got a problem with that?" Or perhaps, "oooh, there is a possibly-tasty thing over there....." :)

Well, he will be staring at something (just not sure what yet), but you got his attitude about right ^____^

Here by way of [livejournal.com profile] maderr...

Eiee! He's gorgeous! I like the webbing on his wings and his spine. *hearts* I love too, that he looks all bad ass and scary until you look at his face and then it's all 'why am I in this tree? The things I do for people'. ^_^ *glomps*

Well hello ^___^

It seems I can never make a dragon that looks scary. They all have attitude, yes, but none are terrifying.....and that webbing was so bloody difficult >_< *growls at it*

Yay dragon!

I love the colouring and the textures of the wings and the leaves. Very nice.

*gurbles* pretty... I'm in love with his muzzle for some reason. ^^

I particularly like his spinal ridge, I think that's the first time I've seen one with joints in it making this dragon especially squeeish to me but what's the purpose? Assuming that it's an advantage for the ridge to be jointed so it can bend; why? Would it make moving through trees easier? Less wind drag when flying? Or is it for mating/dominance displays?

Ok, I'll not say anything about the legs but can I ask about the wings? Is the wing attached more to the bottom of the wing support then the top? As it is the bones in the wing look like they will either snap from thinness or crumble due to lack of musculature.

And finally, one small mistake; on the left wing the second 'finger' bone on the wing joint is about 1/3 times longer then the one on the right wing.

*goes back to gurbling over prettie*

I've gotten alot better and choosing colours for my pics....I cringe when I look at stuff from a few years ago >_>

Ah ha! Was waiting for you! ((and thank you for not saying anything about the legs >_>))

So let's begin. We shall say the jointed spinal ridge allows him to pull that ridge close to his body when moving through trees and then he can raise it again for display purposes ^___^

The wings are driving me nuts trying to find places and ways to attach them to the body, and trying to find a thickness that works with each drawing. So that's still an experiment in progress.....

And the second bone would actually be the last since that wing is folded over.....at least, I think that's the bone you're talking about...

*squints and tries to look through all the leaves*

I was waited for? Sorry, I was kinda off making tarts for a dinner party last night.-_- I really don't see how cooks can stand it.

How far back are the wings attached? It kinda looks like it's behind the thighs but I can't really tell. You did a wonderful job on the wings by the way, you gave him extra skin in folds making it look a lot more realistic then if the wing skin were taunt when the wing wasn't extended the whole way, skin's flexible but not that flexible. That and I like that the top of the wing is colored differently then the bottom.

I think we're thinking about different things, imagine the wing as a distended arm, the mismatched finger bones I'm talking about are the ones attached to the elbow.

I've been looking and found more to ask about though, how many toes does your dragon have? three, four or five? And do the number of toes on the front paws match up with the number on the back paws? And if so does the number match with the number of wing bones? Also are all of the claws facing forwards? Does it have opposable thumbs or pincer claws to aid in holding onto trees? It seems kinda hard to hang on without either.

And lastly, the tail looks thicker before it goes behind the tree then it does where it's attached to the rump, was that on purpose?

Leaves are pretty...

You know...you're giving me quite a bit to think about, which is good, cause I need to stop being so lazy when I design a picture......

*goes to do research for her next dragon*

And remind me to show you it while it's still a sketch so I can actually make changes >_

I dont think the leg looks messed up. Its an angle, kinda odd but not weird. Besides, it is YOUR dragon. It can have ball-and-socket joints for knees if it wants....Or you want. Which ever you prefer! ^_^
