Hopefully his ass will be gone for years since stealing mail is a felony. Be sure you talk to the prosecuter/judge about it as well and make it a firm statement that you want full charges against the guy. And hopefully, the guy that helped you made a police statement or you know him so he can testify to the batshit crazy of this guy. You've got someone really good watching over your ass. Seriously.
