Another 40 minute computer sketch!

There is just something about those mermaids being summoned and the dragon curled around her that makes me purr happily.
Well the fact that I can still draw dragons makes me beyond happy so yeah >_>
But there is something wrong with her face. . .well actually the whole thing needs a lot of work if i want to do anything with it.

Date: 2006-06-19 01:31 am (UTC)I think it might have something to do with her hairline--it makes it look like the right side of her face is pulled tighter. Even though her hair is pulled back, it shouldn't affect the hairline, right?

Date: 2006-06-19 04:28 am (UTC)Also: the general structure of the dragon with hooves and lack of keel bone would suggest that the dragon is a ground dwelling dragon with the ability to glide or fly short distances yet it has the (expected) small wings but the wings themselves are narrow, more falcon like then hawk like. Hawks having broad short wings used at lower altitudes with more body weight and gliding versus falcon wings with which the flier is lighter, faster and flaps more; using a lot more energy and air to fuel the creature. Your dragon has ‘falcon’ wings that would require a smaller body and a larger lung capacity then the chest would suggest instead of ‘hawk’ wings with the smaller chest, heavier body and hoofed feet your dragon has.
Also, your dragon’s hooves, are they hooves? I had been assuming so due to their bluntness they weren’t claws, suggesting that it hunts from the ground where it can hunt down its prey instead of flying down on it with claws outstretched. However I looked at the hands again and realized that the ‘hooves’ were on fingers that would be too long to run on without major risk of breaking bones.
And finally: where are the shoulders attached? I was looking and I think they’re above the chest where its muscles would be attached. Also the wings look like they’re attached to the neck instead of the chest, but I’m not too sure of that.
Erm… 0_0 sorry, I’m lecturing aren’t I? *stops* I kinda just get really into dragon physiology when you could just as easily explain it away by saying “cartoons” or “magical” fee free to ignore all of this in fact because your dragons are cool.
I like the rest of the picture and can’t see what’s wrong with the girl’s face, then again I can’t draw humans worth anything so what do I know? They’re pretties. :)

Date: 2006-06-20 03:12 am (UTC)The one on the left is a Sharp Shined hawk's wing and the one on the right is a Peregrine falcon's wing. Erm...Yeah.
I'd love to see more of your dragons.

Date: 2006-06-19 05:07 am (UTC)The only thing I think is wrong with the face is that her chin is too blunt. Other than that, I think it's good!
