It's Christmas Time!

Okay...so I still have a month and a bit, but i ahve snowflakes in my room, and they sparkle, so how can I not be cheery??

But that is not the reason why I'm cluttering up your screen at the moment. Nope. I actually wanna share some of my happiness by showing you the sketch I just completed for this years Christmas Card ^__^ I'm rather proud of it and well, it's not like what I usually do so i'd like some opinions on it.




The reason he's looking up is because there is going to a mist like fairy coming out of the jar ^__^ he's trying to create a Christmas fairy and the cat at the bottom of the page (Rico) is ready to pounce it! While the cat snuggled up to him (Sylvie) just wants attention paid to her and the cat in the corner watching it all (Zoie) just thinks they're all insane! Those are mom's cats for you. And our family is represent by the snowmen outside.

So, what do you think? The sketch wa slarge so I had to scan it in in pieces and then assemble thus the crappy quality of the picture, but you can still see it.

...BUT!

*points the view outside the window* Finland doesn't have many "sharp" mountains like that. The ones in Lappi are like... flatter. Almost hill-type or such. The one on the right is more like it.

...What? Hey, Santa doesn't live on North Pole. Everyone should know by now that he lives in Lapland, Finland, around a place called Korvatunturi.

Very nice, I like all the rounded soft things and it totally looks like Christmas. ^^ The teddy bear and cats are so cute... as is that vase behind the candy cane. Just 'cause I like it.

*purrrrrrs* i had fun making everything feel soft and warm, although it's very different from what I'm use to. Not use to drawing old men either, but he turned out pretty good for my first attempt ^___^

omg but Santa's face is so, so good. The nose! It's very well drawn, perspective wise and everything. And the hand on that knife. and I really like the composition of the whole room, and the cats (THE CATS!!) and the d-doorframe omg the doorframe is so. detailed. wtf. and for some reason the teddy bear?!? So the perspective works? Good, that was the one thing I was really worried about since I'm only really learning it this year. . . not everything clicks in my head yet, but I'm getting there.

It's beautiful! Definitely different than your usual, but it's very lovely and traditional, with enough hints of your style hovering around the edges to make it sweet and playful. It's perfect! I bet it'll be stunning when you finish it.
