I want a white horse.....
Apr. 11th, 2004 06:59 pmAm happy ^___^ Bought another Mercedes Lackey book (Exile's Valor) this morning and just finished it...thus the reason I haven't drawn anything all day....well I did do a quick (extremely quick) water colour piece of a Companion (white horse...and I'm expecting to gte kicked for saying so..)
I aodre her writing...worship her work...thus the reason I have 59 of her books but am still missing something like 10??? with all the new ones she just came out with.
I swear she doesn't take time to sleep, or eat with all the writing she does! But they are amazing books, very open-minded and so easy and enjoyable to read!!!
I mean, sure there are wonderful novels out there, using very intelligent language...and half the time the words make me stop and think and thus cause me to lose the flow of the story adn instead concentrate on what they're trying to make me understand.
Not the way I enjoy reading. I like having things simple...not because I don't understand it...but it's so much easier to enjoy simple and it shows the value of an author (at least to me) if they can create and make you live a very intricate plot or world all through using language that everyone can understand.
That has always been something that has bugged me. And probably why I started hating my English/Literature classes. They want to see everything done fancy and in words that can't be pronounced instead of having the story coming across easily.
I can't put into words what I mean, but...tis the reason I stopped writing. And yet, I feel as if I want to try it again. Something to do when the art bunnies decided to go hide.
But yes, Mercedes Lackey.....such wonderful stories.....Hearlds and Companions...Elves who race cars.....Heroes who started off stoned and drunk.....a gay mage who kicks ass ^___^ and so many other wondeful things...
*goes off day-dreaming about being Chosen again*

Date: 2004-04-23 03:31 pm (UTC)He was with us for a full semester and was the most amazing teacher, but because of his accent, he pronounced ten as teen....
Had to point out to him that we were teens and the number on the board was ten.
I had him as a teacher that semester, but it was also the semester where i was slowly being forced to drop out and he did his best to help. very sweet adn his daughter adored me ^____^ So when I couldn't handle school, I was babysitting.
But he let us try all these different foods and told us about teh history of New Zealand.
But i just really enjoyed the way he taught. Everything was explained clearly and he told you what exactly was going to be on a test saying that testing us on something we didn't know proved nothing.
As long as we knew how to get to the answer it didn't matter what the answer was.
Yeah i adored him and he gave me a little pendant before he went back. i miss teachers like him....
