Hmmm, so need opinions again. How is it looking so far? The background is still being refined, and I know there are problems with the actual drawing ((which I didn't see until colour was there ^^;))
But it's okay....

I do a layer of one or two main colours I want in the picture and then do a layer on top that is just big brush strokes of all the colours in the background, in the general areas I want them (like grass, a rock, water, building, lights, etc....) and then once I have that down, I can choose the colours(or shades for already established colours) I want my characters to have. And as you can see above, I block in all those colours on their own layer and afterwards it's just a matter of shading. But by having the background colours there, you can see where your light source is and what colours would reflect on what.
