Yes, I have indeed been working on the dragon today as well as all of the requested sketches ^___^

Just wanted to wait till I had a few photos ready before I showed you the progress. It's almost got all the colours down. . . and then I'll have to go add a bit more shadows in a few areas, add a few small highlights and redo then ink and then it will be done!

So the rocks got shaded with more ink and a dead brush. It was a pain in the ass doing all that ;__;

And this is how the rest of the picture looks with the black and white shading ^___^ Not too bad huh? But i know where i went wrong. Since I'm bringing this too full colour, I should have left more areas white. Well, I know for next time at least! And i kinda wished I had used my brown inks since colour looks nicer over it...

water with colour and no, the dragon isn't going to be green ^___^ the highlights just look that way.

Next, grass and trees. . . man I'm going to have to really redo all those lines to get the effect I want.

Rocks painted! I actually like them now ^___^

And this is where I'm ending it for today! See, it's a little gold dragon! Still a lot of work to do, because I need to do another layer of colour over that little dragon. . .but it's looking fairly good so far.

So, having fun?

This may sound weird, but thank you.

Thank you for showing how you do it step by step. It explains so much to me...

I love the step by step pictures So I get to see in what order you color each part of you pictures. Its something I'm always curious about when I see a completed picture.

It really is a beautiful picture!

How long does it take you to decide what it is you want to draw? I saw the doodles of the different lizard and dragon heads, did you have a picture in you head of the scene that you ended up with? or did you experiment with different setups first?

And does a story for the picture ever pop into your head while your working on it?

I'm apparently just full of questions today ^_~

......... excuse me while I empty the bucket of drool.

Holy shit that is amazing. Even my brother is in love with it. He loves the way you've done the water. And the step by step process emphasizes everything.

But damn, that is good. After unicorns, dragons are next on my fantasy collections. ^_____^

What water paints are you using? (sorry for being nosy). I'm just curious if it's the basic or complex colour pallets. I find colours tend to turn out nicer when they're personally mixed. Again...just curious.

Can't wait to see the final result!!!

My watercolours....well actually I'm using stuff that was still left on my pallet from school so all the colours are in a way mixed ^__^ I think the only one i had to open was the yellow >_> And even that got mixed with other colours already laid down....

Hope that helps.

((and the water came out wonderfully by accident X__x i was so worried about it and then...it just happened. . .))

That is starting to look really nice! :) Interesting process. I've never used grisaille myself but it looks like it's a really effective method -- maybe I should start.

It's my favourite way of painting and one of the easiest to get a lot of detail in. . .

And it's fun ^__^

Thank God not everyone on Earth has my art skills

I love how you can shade nicely with watercolor...because when I try to do that...my paper ends up turning into mulch...and I suck at art in the first place, so...I'm a hopeless case.

Do you want any gold paint? ^____^ I think I can send some over... Like really, really gold sort of paint... ^__^;

Shiny? Gold?

I could give it a home ^____^

And it took me a long time to get use to watercolours >_< But now that I know them, I really enjoy using them ^___^

And this is why art just blows my mind. See, you just did all these different steps to get this incredible effect and I wouldn't have had a clue where to even begin. I like the dragon's coloring. Reminds me of some of the toads we have around the house, esp. with the streaks of reddish brown on him.
