So, anyone remember this time last year when I was going insane because of that bone test? the one where I had to draw a perfect skeleton from memory, front back and side? And then name about 50 bones?

Well, we're doing the muscle version of that on Tuesday and I've discovered that trying to remember and spell the names of muscles is hard. Very hard and it doesn't help that recently (in the past 6-7 months) I can't keep letters or numbers straight. I have to read through things about 3 or 4 times and anything with numbers drives me insane. Sometimes it's perfectly fine, other times, I can't do anything. Really very annoying.

*sigh*

But yes...I've spent the past week trying to draw out the different muscles and then write down their origin, insertion and action and trying to break down the muscles into nice simple shapes so that when the model takes his pose I may actually stand a chance of passing. And once that is done, then I will be able to get myself focused on other stuff (which includes both homework and art for you guys) so wish me luck on Tuesday?

But seriously...

How am I suppose to remember how to spell things like 'semimembranosus' and 'levator labii superioris alaeque nasi' I am so very doomed... ;__;

Fuuu~ I feel your pain!! I cursed the part of the anatomy class where we had to learn all the muscles! The names were not the biggest problem (since we got Latin classes before), but the insertion, origin, action and everything! (Well, at least I knew had to do that when I chose my program, in contrast to you...)
So even if it doesn't help you much, I'll sit here and try to send you all my anatomy vibes I might have left and will think of you randomly ^^"

So good luck that you'll manage!! *sends vibes*

I've given up trying to learn insertion, origin and action at this point and am just focusing on the names and trying to draw them >_< But thanks, I need all the good vibes I can get!

Hmm. Could you make them into a song? For the most part, the spellings seem phonetic so maybe just putting the names to a tune of any sort would at least keep them in your head. Over the years I've been stuck with songs about states (as in, all 50 american states in alphabetical order - a song I still use at times), all parts of grammar, math equations, etc. And they really do tend to help. ^^;

No matter what, I'll be sending good thoughts your way. ♥

That has helped for a lot of the facial muscles, and the rest, I'm creating things that help as I go I'm just glad that in a few hours, this will all be over. . .

WOW, those bring back memories. I wish I could be there to help you! I had to learn all the muscles in my A&P and Comparative Vertibrate Anatomy classes. D:

Yeah, it's funny, I know so many people who studied anatomy and yet none of them are around at the one time I need to know it myself ^__^; But I'll figure something out.

*snuggles* Oh! Did I tell you Delmar sends his thanks for the cute little green bear? Because he does ^__^

I am going to remember the Levator Labii Superioris Alaeque Nasi AS LONG AS I LIVE. (Did you know it's actually got the longest name of any muscle in any animal?)

It sure seems like the longest damn name. . .

And watch it not even be on the test ^___^ Good luck to you!

Do I ever know what you mean! I had human bio last semester we had to use the medical terms (patella not kneecap! Etc...) and spelling was counted. My favorite word? Sphygmomanometer. It's the thing that doctors use to check your blood pressure. XD

It helped me to write the words over and over again. I pretty much have a notebook filled with random bio words.

Good luck!

Spelling is counted for us as well, but damn is that one interesting word...watch me write that somewhere on the test and completely confuse the teacher ^^;

*loves*

And the writing words over and over has seemed to help me as well...I've got most of the major muscles memorized, so hopefully that will get me a passing mark. . .

I had an anatomy coloring book that got me through most of A&P. >>; I was the only one in the class that actually colored in mine, mostly because I'm a five-year-old at heart.

Ah well, colouring is always fun though ^__^

I find really strange word associations work quite well for me and my memory like... semimembranosus = partially-alzheimeric bran-eatting ninja dinosaur.

partially=semi
mem = memory lacking something,
bran is pretty straight forward,
ninja dinosaur = osus reminded me of 'osaurs' the typical ending for a dinosaur name, but lacking the arr sound, which makes it not a pirate and thus a ninja (pirates vs ninja)

And the utter ridiculousness of it help stick in my head. Plus you spend so much time thinking about the word that that also helps.

Good luck with things ^_^

*laughs* Oh that one will be stuck in my head now ^____^ Thanks for that! And ninja dinosaurs. . . *snickers*

Eep! Now that's ten times more demanding than any class I've experienced!

Is this for animation?

This is indeed for animation, part of our life-drawing course ;___; Wish me luck?

I had to do somthing like that when I was in Pre-med, I had to label all the muscles and bones on the chart, so I somewhat feel your pain, Good Luck!

Yeah...we did the bones last year and the muscles this year..

But at least with the bones last year, we had a list that we could use for spelling reference. . .this time? Nothing ;__;

Eek, that sounds so very tedious. I remember having to memorize metabolic pathways in biochem, with similar long and convoluted names-- you have my sympathies!! And best of luck with it.

Why do things need such complicated names and why must we remember them now? I mean really, we have our whole lives ahead of us, so can't we just take our time?

*sigh* Silly demanding school....

Well, it'll be over in a few hours so *crosses fingers* here's hoping I pass.
