Pirates = Love

So, in a Will Turner community, a challenge (prompt) was thrown up today for either designing a flag for the Flying Dutchman or else a tattoo for Will and well, I really wanted to try my hand at the tattoo, but first I needed a base to put it on, thus I had to try and draw Will.

Now, we know I can do him Chibi fairly well and the sketchy stuff has been pretty hit or miss, but I really want to try and do a 'finished' pic of him. And i think I have a workable sketch. Need to change the legs and fix a few other problem areas, but so far, I think I'm getting what I'm after. His tattoo will go over the scar across his heart and won't be added till the end, but I'll let you guys see how it's starting:




Like I said, still needs a lot of work, and the angle of the picture shows everything squashed, but there was no real place to prop up the paper. Hopefully i can get this one to work out like I want it to ;__; Wish me luck?

Also, I have discovered that he has 'angry puppy eyes'! Or at least that's what they look like when you try and draw him....

I also need to fix the resting arm don't I and I can't tell if the torso is too short...

Hmmmm.

Help?

That's really well-done! And you're right. He does have puppy eyes, doesn't he? Actually, I was thinking that the torso is a very nice proportion, though his hipbone looks a bit high. Maybe that's why his torso looks short to you? When I don't look at his hip, it looks fine. If it weren't for the fact that his shirt is open, I wouldn't have even thought about a short torso. (Poor thing, it must be a very hot day.)

I really like his right hand. The one that is holding the rope. I don't know why, I just do.

I moved the hips down, as well as the line of the pants (after studying more pics of Mr. Bloom) so hopefully that was all it needed. And I like that hand too ^__^ Hopefully i don't kill it in clean-up.

Yep, O, and thus, Will, has a really loooong torso (and legs), so you could probably drop the curvature of the waistline, and thus make his breeches ride lower on his hips... which is never a bad thing :D

Otherwise, altogether gorgeous - and I'm loving the 'angry puppy' analogy - spot on!

*looks at your icon* Yeah he does have an insanely long torso and legs.....and I did what you suggested and dropped the waistline, so hopefully it looks better now >_> Posted the results so far so could you tell me what you think, please?

And yes, Will is our adorable angry puppy ^__^

Everything looks fine to me, but that means little coming from me ^_^' I think it looks awesome. Oh and if you get the time try reading the manga Eyeshield 21, it's great.
