Saw Treasure Planet for the first time this weekend.

Fell in love.

It's so pretty and cool and and....

Just yeah.

My love of pirates and ships and all things free has been reaffirmed. Life is good.

Isn't it such a lovely movie? I adore the song that Johnny Rzeznik does for it too. Disney was so unrepresented for that movie. I think it's one of my faves and it wasn't even a sleeper hit. *le sigh*

What happened with that movie was really a shame. I think it suffered from its proximity to "Titan AE" (Which was ALSO Treasure Island in Space, but Titan AE while an amazing translation - I didn't even realize it was TI at first! - was neither technically as nice, nor as fantastic an adventure. For the record, Disney started Treasure Planet first! XD). but it did poorly in the box office and was relegated to back shelves (though I am to understand it did well in DVD sales)

That movie was extremely well put-together, probably one of the last great cel-shaded movies. The CG helped, it didn't hinder, and the cast and character designs were excellent. (Most of Doctor Doppler's lines were ad-libbed! XD)
You had to suspend your disbelief a bit for the SPACE-GALLEONS! But they were galleons...IN SPACE! How cool is that?! (did I spell that right?)

Also, I loved their treatment of Silver. He LOOKED like a typical Disney villain, hideous (I loved his design, "hideous" in a stylistic way) and evil, but damn you COULDN'T hate the guy! Even when he was at his worst! Excellent treatment.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a Disney nut.. ^_^; I think some Treasure Planet art would be just what the doctor ordered though...*COMPLETELY INNOCENT THAT-COMMENT-MEANS-NOTHING FACE XD*
