Considering she's already struggling with keeping track of what's real and such, I'm pretty sure it's the not-silly reason. =< I haven't seen the movie, but the number of people who told me they started questioning reality after seeing it leads me to think that anyway.
I don't have problems in keeping track what is reality and what isn't, (my problems are in other directions) but after that movie, I have created my own totem. Something I always carry with me, and only I know. It's really calming to me.
