Maybe Ace encounters a series of something or someones that slowly change his opinion and make him realize just what kind of Pirate WB is and why he's necessary ((and even good)) for the Grand Line and New World? Date: 2011-05-16 06:14 pm (UTC)Though, if Smoker has a hickey/burn mark you can't be held responsible.Well, from that part of the manga/anime, I've gotten the impression that Ace wasn't after WB because he thought he was a bad person. The reason he gave openly, "He's strong, we can prove ourselves this way," and then my extrapolated reason, "He was my father's rival, if I beat him, then I am better than that man."
Jack's prodding in the previous part was in-line with that - Ace shouldn't have to prove himself, etc, etc, etc.
The other big messy thing involved with this is that this is also about the time where Jack admits that she's hitherto been spying on him and the Spades for the marines.

Date: 2011-05-16 06:25 pm (UTC)Well, in canon Ace didn't come up with another way and the Spades weren't able to convince him. I have several good arguments, but they all are based on "Ace is going to lose" and he can just counter those with "I won't lose," lol.
I have a few bits that I only sent to people via PM, if ya wanna read? They are not necessarily from the same Spade continuity, though XD
