Well, he's here...

And let me rant for a minute about Sanji. He's a pain in the ass to draw! I mean, I adore drawing him and everything, but to get what I put down on paper to match what I see in my mind is really difficult ;__; I was going through a lot of the japanese sites to see how others drew him and while they have very beautiful art, it wasn't quite what I was after.
I wanted him to look like a 'guy', I wanted to be able to keep him as expressive as he is in the original series! And I want people to always remember that he's a fighter as well. >__<
And I don't know how well I suceeded...
Hopefully it's alright.
Oh and the weed in his mouth will be explained by Chopperfish later >_>;

Date: 2007-01-05 04:06 am (UTC)i wrote a longish, concrit-ish comment here, but i realized that i do that often and i'm not sure if you even want to read concrit, though you're always very nice about it. so i saved it to my desktop, and i'll only post it if you want to read it.

Date: 2007-01-05 03:05 pm (UTC)i thought, because you'd mentioned wanting sanji to look like a guy, that i'd point something out. i've noticed--particularly in your 'sanji-plushie and the red shirt' comic, as well as the last panel of today's page of Legend--that sometimes you give sanji broad shoulders, a manly chest, and recede his body sharply into a very small waist, and then flare his hips (tail) out again. which gives him an hourglass figure. almost as though zeff forced him to wear a corset so often during his formative years that his body just takes that shape naturally now. it doesn't really bother me, but from some of the comments you've made and from some of your responses to other comments, i've wondered if you're doing it on purpose or not. i just assumed that it was your way of differentiating sanji's build from, say, zoro's. though it's hard to tell if you might do the same thing with zoro because of the haramaki.
--that's all i wrote before i thought, 'y'know, she might not wanna read all this nonsense.' i might have been about to type something else, but i can't remember. i think that was it, though.

Date: 2007-01-05 03:38 pm (UTC)But yeah, I can see that......there's a little too much of a difference between the waist and the hips. Hmm, will have to work on that, probably need to streamline that whole area a bit. Thanks though ^___^
And Zoro, I've never been able to draw a decent picture of Zoro....>_>;
