So, I'm home from the con and I am exhausted. Overall it was wonderful, but the first day, was hellish and thus I have the share the Hotel Incident. If anyone has worked at a hotel, or has dealt with hotels often, maybe you can tell me if this is a normal mistake...

Noon: We meet in the lobby to get our hotel rooms. We booked three rooms, two beds in each. Only one of them was ready. Okay, we understand things take time and dropped off all the bags in one room and went to get our badges.

1:00: We have our badges and check on our room. They say just a little longer so we go to the dealers room and look around.

2:00: Rooms still aren't ready. They tell us to come back at 5:00. We're really getting annoyed, but we're also hungry so after glaring at them we take off for supper.

6:00: Are rooms are still not ready. Megs (who is in charge of our group) starts getting REALLY upset. So they look through the computer and finally give us keys to two rooms. One is empty...the other is not. We complain again and it seems they let someone else book our room.

7:00: They've given us another third room to try. We go up...it's been given to someone else again. We're ready to kill someone at this point.

8:30: The manager has finally given us a deal. He's giving us a premier suite for the third room with the discounted price he later gives our other rooms, with free breakfast for us and all rooms half off. We tell him if that suite is occupied, there will be hell. he doesn't complain and personally walks us up to the suite.

It's empty. We finally have our third room almost 9 hours later. And the con is closed by now. They're all in bad moods, I'm just happy I'm part of the group in the suite (since it was booked under my name) and damn was that suite nice. Our robes were so soft, our bathroom was HUGE! The beds were amazing and there were hardwood floors and carpets and gorgeous chairs, with a tv and DVD and free internet and cable and just yeah....

Also, everything in there was free for us ^____^ So, even though it was a hellish day, I was happy.

They were not and kept giving the hotel staff a hard time. I didn't and therefore they adored me >_> I was also the only one who tipped and thus. . .I was spoiled ^^; It also was really cool to flash the VIP card and get immediate service although I didn't abuse it.

So, it was interesting. But is normal for mess-ups like that to happen? I'm still not use to hotels so...

Oh and my camera didn't make it to the Con ;__; But luckily everyone will be emailing me pics so all will be good. And, I met up with my Zoro on the second day *_____* We chatted and kept getting stopped for pics (I was a Bleach Bunny with a Bunny Captain and he was Skypeia Zoro who would always pose with three swords out) And people kept wanting him to pose in random acts of violence. I think he cut off 6 people's heads. Stabbed three and mutilated a few others O__o; But that is what people wanted. But to do that, I had to hold his bag. Which was fine except when he had to leave with his friends, I still has his bag which I didn't realize till that evening >_> Found him again in the masquerade line (which was awesome) and ended up sitting behind his group as well ^___^

The masquerade was kickass as well! Especially the Reboot group! They were gorgeous *_______* I will see if I can find some videos of the really good skits and costumes, they were amazing!

But getting back to other events. . .I spent all of today with Zoro ^____^ And I went to apologize to my friends for ignoring them, (because when i was with him I was mainly focused on him) but they just laughed and said it was cute to finally see me all happy and chatty with a guy ^^; They also approved of him which was cool and yeah >_>

He also wants to take me to see Stardust at some point! So I think I've been asked out on a date! And it was really cool to see that he did match up to what i remember from Anime north and that I still reacted the same.

I'm still grinning and looking like an idiot but i don't care.

I'm also exhausted so i hope this makes sense. I'll catch up with everything else later >_> Loves you guys!

Eeeeee a Reboot group at a com (if you find videos/pictures/whatnot let me know! Or you know, I could get off my lazy ass and do some searching too XD) and Luco's got herself a Zoro XD Is [livejournal.com profile] kotszok on your flist? >.> She may try to kidnap him XD Sounds like you had a fun time! Sucks about the trouble with the room though, although the upgrade to suite is pretty...suite sweet! XD And Stardust is awesome, I'm sure you'll love it :D

I will send you pictures of the Reboot group when i get them because their costumes were awesome! And they all painted their skin and everything *_____*

And I don't think she is on my flist so I can't make her jealous ^___^ But have you seen my Zoro? He's a sweetheart, easy on the eyes and very good at posing with those swords. . .

I think it is so wonderful that you have found a guy that you can have a good time with, who likes what you like too. And yay for Stardust!

As to the hotel question: No it does not always happen, and this is why you got the exec suite and all your expenses comped. When the hotel screws up as badly as they did, they should do things like this. It is good that you kept to your guns on them. Because things like this do happen when a hotel is over-booked, which can happen when there is a big convention.

However, your people were very wrong to keep taking it out on the hotel staff. First of all, it was a mistake. How would they like to blamed for something that was an accident? Second, the people they harrassed probably didn't even know about the check-in problem, and they have to deal with several hundred other guests besides your party. Third, they themselves are in a large group of hotel guests who a)do not act well, b)do not TIP well, and c)do not know how to do hotels well. To the hotel, they just made themselves part of a large group of annoying customers.

You, however, were doing the right thing to tip and be nice. Being polite and thankful, and being willing to tip puts you in the small group of guests that they enjoy dealing with. You've guaranteed yourself that the next time you show up with a reservation, you will be treated nicely by everyone.

Welcome home! I'm glad you're happy! *hugs*

Zoro is a complete sweetie ^___^ At first I was a bit worried that i would annoy him but he stayed with me and he was the one who offered to take me the movies so *______*

But with the hotel...it was annoying, but we got our rooms in the end and the staff was nice to me so I would have felt bad if i didn't tip >_> I mean when i first arrived (just before talking to you) they helped bring my bag into the lobby and got me a drink and some ice for my arm, and later on Saturday one of the staff members stopped to help me wrap it up again and they even bought me benadryl when i had a minor allergic reaction to their shampoo and conditioner (it had almond oil) so they were good. I'm just sad that I was a part of the group that was rude to them >_>;

Anyways, am home again and working on packing for school! i move in Thursday!

FanExpo ^_______^ Would you like a link to their site? It's an Anime/Horror/Sci-Fi/Gaming convention. . .

It's kinda fun and has one of my favourite masquerades ^__^

That is just awesome. See how good things happen!!

Glad you had fun at the con, and that you got the best out of the hotel's problem. ^___^

And, Zoro...you got lucky!! It's really nice that you got to spend the day(s) with him. Hopefully Stardust will be good (even better with Zoro,nah?). I saw it on Friday. It's like the Princess Bride type of fantasy. It's really a great movie.

YAY!! You're grinning like an idiot!! That may just be the best look for you...besides all draped in a white wedding dress with Zoro beside you, of course!
^________________________________^
*huggles* You deserve all the happy!
And yes! Definitely go for the date with Zoro! Uhm...can we call him something else besides Zoro? Cause I'm feeling guilty Sanji's not getting his own Zoro ^^;;
Catch up with you later, dearest! (^__^)/

Zoro's name is Bryce if that makes you feel better ^___^ But if he keeps dressing up as Zoro I'm going to keep refering to him as that! And me in a wedding dress >_>;

That will be a long time off ^^;

((Also....I look way too silly grinning like an idiot..))

WOO!! I'm so glad! I was worried that I'd be stuck in a class full of strangers and awkward social interactions D: But now I know that no such thing shall occur. Relief!

I've heard hotel incidents like those happen a lot around some of the bigger cons. It happened at Anime Expo. My friends and I actually ended up housing two different ppl on two different nights because with one, her room wouldn't be ready until the next day, and the other because she had been kicked out of her room to make space for incoming guests. (For some reason, its easy to trust strangers staying with you if you know they're otaku freaks like yourself)

Luckily, me and my friends were part of this HUGE group (I think of around 20-30 ppl) so none of us ran into any problems.

But I'm glad to hear you had fun! I'm still going to bug you about flying out for Anime Expo next year so us west coast fans can get a chance to meet you!

Ouch. Well, at least we got our rooms which was all I really cared about >_> And i will see what i can do about Anime Expo, but I can't make any promises.

But it would be nice to see you guys!

No promises is fine, since I'm in the same position right now. LoL. I only go if the big group I go with is organized again, and at this moment, we're really not sure about it. But since we're all anime freaks, we'll probably go for it regardless XD

Hotels tend to overbook in the same way that air flights overbook, because they assume that there will be some no-shows/last minute cancellations etc. However, hotels should know which rooms are occupied (so they shouldn't be giving out keys to occupied rooms!), and if they do overbook and there is nothing available they should book you into another hotel, and make arrangements because that is entirely their fault (At least that's what our hotel does).

Glad con was fun ^_^

Yeah, that is what really bothered me...if we weren't such nice people we could have easily robbed both of those rooms....I mean all their stuff was lying all over the place. . .

But in the end it all worked out ^_^ It was just tiring.

Heard some of the same thing about some hotels, especially my one friend who has a bit of a mobility problem. She always has to request a handicapped-accessible bathroom when we go places, and she only gets one about half the time, but usually they manage to get it worked out, like with yours - even if it DOES take a while. And from all the people int the world who deal with customers, thanks for not continuing to hold it against the staff the whole weekend. It's easy to sort of just stay angry but it was probably an honest if very stupid and long-lasting series of errors.

Sounds like a good time overall though! Grinning like an idiot hm? Whatever anyone might say, it's a good look for any woman. :) Enjoy Stardust.
