So, I finished my first animation of the year! Sadly, the video is really dark because it was a rushed shooting, but if you play with the brightness you should see it ;___; I'd actually re-do it if I wasn't so exhausted, but right now, screw it.

Anyways. . .

I tried turning it into a flash file. I think it's too large but it seems to load up fine on my computer and the net has been really slow here recently so hopefully you can see it?

If not, I can play with it again. . .

But I know it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good for having to do all of it on my own, while sick and not having a light-table to work with. That's right, all those drawingsa re done through flipping! And I'll admit I'm more then a little proud of that!

So again, sorry for the crappy quality, but if you'd like to see it, go here and it should work. Yell at me if it doesn't since I'm convinced flash hates me.

I am damn proud of the waves since people have told me they are some of the most complex waves from my year and I think I pulled them off nicely ^___^

But yes, the flipping thing is hard, but I feel good that I can do it that way.

*snuggles*

OMG...I'm so amused by that. Hehe. Nice job. I think you did a good job. (My computer and programs would of given up on me at the start).

Anyways I'm impressed! I really like portrayal of it. Very nice.

I hope you're feeling better. Sucks having to do work and take care of yourself trying to balance everything.

As soon as I got the assignment Mini Merry was the first thing that popped into my mind so I just went with it and it seems to have brought me good luck ^___^ I know the waves are going the wrong way (at least according to the assignment) but this way actually looks right to me >_>

I'd never yell at you. Except if it was like DUCK RUN COOKIES or HUGS. Flash hates me too apparently so it's just a meanie. Congrats on finishing it in time though!

Awww, well then I shall have to find a way to send it to you so that you can see it! And yes, I'm very proud of getting it done on time.

:D MERRY!

That's really neat- the pillow and water reminds me a bit of an earlier Disney style.

It kinda does. I guess it doesn't help that a lot of teachers worked for Disney does it?

Hee. No, probably not. Disney does offer experience, fast, so that's in your favor. Experienced teachers!

Yeah, all those different layers shot on top of each other really turn things dark. . . tis a bit annoying. . .next time I may just take the time and scan it instead of using the camera.

That's awesome! It's like an old Disney outtake or something (regarding the darkness and the lines XD!)

*grins* yeah, it does have that feeling, which is kind of neat. Will have to play with that effect with future assignments.

You should be!! I wish I could do animation sigh. I need to change majors man. I like doing realistic work but I get sad just doing that. They won't even let me use my oil crayons. Oil crayons are my favorite favorite medium. Are you going to post more projects? (hopeful look)

Just a little tribute to that wonderful ship. It was a wonderful thing to be able to bring it to life just for a little while longer.

Sweet effects animation! I'm so glad they still teach that. You are awesome indeed.

*sings* A flour sack went out to sea...

(I'll ask again... what would you recommend to someone who probably could and would never get into an animation class who has this strong urge to try to animate something way out of her abilities other than "loser, you'll never do anything worth looking at-go drink bleach." From looking at blogs, animators seem like really miserable and anal people. O_o. Do your teachers seem that way? I'm scared they'll come for me while I sleep and talk about how horrible my sketchbook is)

From: [identity profile] luco-millian.livejournal.com
Our teachers all let us know that a lot of the animators out there are like that....and that the industry can turn many people into people like that. . .

But beyond that, they're good teachers and encourage us.

As to what to do to start learning it, or just play around with it. . .hmmm. Get a three ring binder and hole punch a lot of blank paper. Make sure the binder isn't too deep and use that as a set up for flipping. Unless you have a store that can sell you a peg bar and animation paper? I know pegbars are usually $5 for a plastic one and animation paper comes in packs of 500 for $30.

Get that all together and I'll try to figure out how to best explain the animation process that we use. . .

Hm... They need to give you yoga or dance or something to blow off the "All animation after the 60s is shit and it's everyone's fault" steam.

But 'til then... I found a two hole hole puncher and punched some holes in some paper XD. I don't know how I'll bind it, but the other side is still attached to the book. Now I have to start drawing, I guess.... (After preliminary sketches, I guess after that, I'll start detaching and finding a place to put them so I can move papers around and add and subtract.
